Dorchester Reporter, 10/14/26, Massachusetts ballot questions: What a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ vote means
“Question 6 — Conservation Fund
A new “Nature for All” fund would receive revenue from existing sales taxes associated with outdoor recreational purchases and activities. The money would be intended for protecting and restoring land, waterways and open spaces, although the Legislature would retain its authority over appropriations.
A YES vote means: Establish a fund using existing sales tax revenue from outdoor recreational purchases and activities.
A NO vote means: Make no change to how those tax revenues are allocated.”

“Question 6: Establishing a natural resource conservation fund
This question would create a statewide fund for conserving open space, wildlife and natural resources, along with a board to oversee its spending. That fund would be taken from money set aside from sales taxes on recreational vehicles, golf courses and sporting goods, such as ski and tennis equipment.
Andrew Sharpe of the Authentic Caribbean Foundation argued that Question 6 would help ensure communities have access to the money they need to preserve their health and the health of their open space, by providing a new avenue of up to $100,000,000 per year in funding through a mechanism similar to the Community Preservation Act. Sharpe added that the fund’s oversight board would draw on the expertise of existing well-established local advocacy groups.
No one attended the event to speak against Question 6.”

“Question 6: Natural Resource Conservation Fund
A "yes" vote would put state taxes generated from the sale of sporting goods, recreational vehicles and golf courses into a fund for natural resource conservation. A "no" vote would not establish a fund.
Supporters say it would raise tens of millions to protect clean drinking water, prevent flood damage, reduce pollution and improve parks, trails and other green spaces. Opponents say it could take away funding from other priorities, and note the Legislature ultimately has authority over appropriations.”
