News Roundup: Protect Water & Nature Final Ad

MASSterlist, 10/23/26, Ballot question ads proliferate campaigns keep spending as Election Day nears

In a 30-second commercial set to start airing today, Nicole Freedman walks along a wooded trail with a child playing alongside her, contrasting the open spaces against big developments like warehouses and data centers.

The ad encourages voters to back Question 6, which seeks to steer a portion of the existing sales tax on sporting goods to a new nature conservation fund.

"This year's ballot's a lot. But Question 6 is simple," Freedman, an Arlington resident and executive director of the New England Mountain Bike Association, says in the ad.

SECOND NATURE: The “Yes on 6″ campaign, which is backing the ballot question that would redirect sales tax receipts on sporting goods, recreational vehicles, and golf courses into a new conservation fund, is rolling out a second TV ad ahead of Election Day that seeks to play on the growing anxiety about data centers.

The 30-second spot features an appeal from Nicole Freedman, the executive director of the New England Mountain Bike Association, who warns that there are “pressures” on the state’s green spaces from warehouses and data centers — effectively framing it as the choice between a beautiful vista and a sprawling complex of buildings.

The ad will air on broadcast and digital platforms, according to the campaign.
