The Bedford Citizen: Letter to the Editor: Vote Yes on Question 6 to Protect the Environment

Submitted by David Santos

There are plenty of questions on our ballot this fall. Question 6 deserves a close look because it concerns something we all depend on — clean water and healthy natural spaces.

I’m supporting yes on Question 6. The proposal would create a Nature for All Fund, using existing tax revenue to support conservation without creating a new tax. Spending would remain subject to legislative appropriation.

The fund could help protect forests and wetlands that filter our drinking water, preserve habitat for birds, fish, and pollinators, and create and improve parks and trails. It also includes annual public reporting on how funds are spent.

As someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, I care about preserving these places for our children and future generations. Protecting nature is an investment in the health and quality of life of our communities.

Please learn more at natureforma.org and consider voting yes on Question 6 on Nov. 3.

I serve on the Bedford Conservation Commission and am writing in my personal capacity.
